Story

Newsflash: I actually have a black toenail (apparently a sign that I'm now a bonafide runner) yuck!! So now I have to put my socks on with my eyes closed!

Of course being a former health journalist (which by default also makes me a bit of a hypochondriac) I thought I might have a weird black toenail parasite (erghhh!). The GP gave me short shrift and waived me away in a second! So I have a 'normal' runner's black toenail.  (I really don't think I was built for running, apart from my slightly abnormally low pulse).

Anyway, is anyone actually reading this?

-----------------------------------------------

Hello - I made a huge error of judgement (in that I've never done anything like this before) and decided to enter the Royal Parks half marathon.

However, I'm trying to cancel out this stupidity by making a good decision, which is deciding to run for Treehouse - the national charity for autism education based in North London, near to where I grew up.

As you will probably know how much I like sitting on my behind, watching crap tv and eating donuts this is quite a big thing for me and I was hoping you might decide to support me by sponsoring me - every little helps!!

Some of you may know that I used to volunteer with children who had learning disabilities - including autism - for a different charity so it's a cause close to my heart. And I used to write stories about Treehouse when I reported on a local newspaper so I've supported them for a long time.

They are a fantastic charity and have really had to fight for every penny they've got and have managed to raise enough money to build a specialist school. If you would like to find out more about Treehouse you can visit the link here http://www.treehouse.org.uk/.

And if like me, you're mad about short stories check out Speaking with the Angel - a fantastic collection of tales collated by Nick Hornby (one of the founders of Treehouse). Money from the sale of this book goes to the charity.

If you can sponsor me I would be very grateful as would the kids at Treehouse!

Anyway thanks and hope to see you soon!

Kx
