The Target? The goal is to raise £2,500 by Friday 10th September 2010
What? In November 2010 I will be going on Challenge 2010: . In a small rural community set alongside the summits of the Rumiñahi and Cotopaxi volcanoes - one of which is still very much active, I will take on an international experience radically different to any one I’ve ever had before. Giving up high living hotel accommodation for a tent, exchanging warm weather for conditions of high altitude, abandon luxury bathrooms and hot showers for sanitation facilities 20 minutes walk away from the camp site, and forgo extravagant restaurants for … well… I’m not quite sure what they eat at camp, beans?
Why? The reason I am doing this? Participating in an event like this has been something I have wanted to do for a while, the opportunity has come along now to help with vital building work on a school in a rural community providing the children with a chance to an education to help them build their future. I will be travelling with a number of work colleagues where we will undertake 8 hours a day of plastering, tiling, laying flooring, glazing, roofing and everything in between for 10 days
For those of you who know me, will also know that this is something quite out of my comfort zone, so…. I’m calling out for your support to make this venture successful for me so that we can help these children who are not as fortunate as us to start building an education so that they have the foundations to support themselves and their families.
In addition to the rebuild of the school, you will also be contributing to Get Connected, a charity based in the for young people (you can read about it on the left hand side of this page)
I am really looking forward to this – with great excitement! So wish me luck, please dig deep and any thanks for supporting and giving!
