Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This Easter Saturday instead of demolishing the insane amount of chocolate I usually do each Easter weekend, I've decided to take on the challenge of running in the Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town, SA. In doing this I hope to not only raise much needed funding for the organisation World Emergency Relief (WER) but to also raise public awareness on the issues of extreme poverty, provide some insight into the types of projects organisations such as WER are involved in, and give people the opportunity to offer their support and really make a difference.    

I've listed a few obstacles I'm going to have to overcome to ensure I'm not actually going to die before reaching the finish line...

1. I have never run in a marathon or half marathon before  

2. I'm going to be training in the cold/ snowy/ wet British weather (which I'm still not use to)

3. This marathon is not only a very hilly marathon... there is a slight risk of monkey attacks (on the bright side however being chased by some feral monkeys will help motivate me to run faster)

4. I'm training over the Christmas and New Year holiday period :(  

... however despite all this I am still enthusiastic about raising some $£$£ for this organisation and hope that my motivation and the support from others will help carry me to the end in one piece!!

In return of your support, I absolutely promise to post a series of horrendous pictures of myself once it's all over (if you’re really lucky maybe even some video of me being chased by monkeys). I’ll also post some photos of the projects where the money raised will be spent.
