Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have now completed the run and the video herewith shows me in a distressed state crossing the finish line.  I’m the small guy with the abnormal gait in the bright yellow top and peculiar haircut.  I am visible after 15 seconds in the middle of the screen ‘running’ near the white dotted line.

s this is the organisation’s 25th anniversary year, and because I wanted to run the Berlin Half Marathon, I thought I'd try and raise a bob or two for the great work my colleagues do in Glasgow for so many deserving refugees we have in this fine city.

However, I only realised once I was on the plane (and it was all becoming horribly real) that it was almost exactly – to within a few days – 25 years since I moved to Berlin to live.  This seemed to invest the adventure with some higher meaning, especially when I considered that I'd be staying a mere 300 metres from the very first apartment I had in the city ... aaah, the memories…

Unfortunately the following morning I had to run.  Some of my sponsors had given me an extra incentive to ‘go for it’ by pledging a little extra if I completed the course in under 100 minutes.  Somehow or other I managed it – 1 hour 39 minutes 53 seconds  - seven seconds inside the target time.

For thoses of you that have pledged your support - it's time to cough up.  Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you so much for your support
