Story

For many people, conquering Kilimanjaro is the ultimate trekking challenge. Close to Tanzania's border with Kenya, snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain and the highest freestanding mountain in the world. At 5,896 metres (20,000ft) high, the breathable oxygen at the top is less than half the amount at sea level, which makes the 80 kilometres (50 miles) to get to the top and back down again extra difficult.

James, George, Tas and Alex have decided to take on this rather large hill on the 19th February (yes, this year!) and are taking the Umbwe route, which is particularly gruelling. Brothers, James and George, have chosen to dedicate their climb to the very worth charity, Help for Heroes.

So please sponsor us!

Help for Heroes helps the wounded Servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. The message from the charity is simple: we are strictly non-political and non-critical; we simply want to help. We believe that anyone who volunteers to serve in time of war, knowing that they may risk all, is a hero. We may not be able to prevent our soldiers from being wounded, but together we can help them get better.

Pledge whatever you can – we’ll take anything. And thanks to the wonderful internet it’s easy for you to give!

Please note: we are paying for the trip and all expenses ourselves, so all sponsorship money will go to the charity.

Thank you.
