Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This time I am putting on my wetsuit and swimming the - well a mile of it.  The event is The British Gas Great London Swim (http://www.greatswim.org/Events/British-Gas-Great-London-Swim/) and I am swimming in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer.  The date is Saturday 3rd July 2010 and it is my first outdoor swim!  Although a mile doesn't sound a lot, it is 64 lengths of your average swimming pool, with nowhere to stop for a breather!

My Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer 22 years ago and she has been fighting it ever since.  She is just about to complete her final round of treatment and has made a fantastic recovery from the last cancer which was found at Christmas time 2008.  Every day, 35 women in the die from breast cancer and a staggering 46,000 are diagnosed with the disease every year. That could be me, you, or your mum, sister, daughter, or your best friend.  My Mum has survived and it's thanks to charities like Breakthrough.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Breakthrough Breast Cancer gets your money faster and, if you're a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, is added to your donation.

I do hope you are able to support me - many thanks.  x
