We support victims of domestic violence to help them towards safety and recovery

Story

Domestic abuse comes in many types: physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological or emotional abuse, financial or material abuse. This charity supports victims and survivors of domestic abuse and assists their users through every step of removing violence from their lives and significantly reducing their risk. Now, especially with COVID-19, domestic abuse rates have increased, and shelters have had to close. Increased isolation could create even more escalation in abuse, where those who are living with an abusive family member may be less
likely to ask for help increasing their risk. Rising Sun Domestic Violence & Abuse Service supports women and children affected by domestic abuse in Canterbury and East Kent. They support their users through every step of
removing abuse from their lives and improving their safety. To support Rising Sun The King's School is aiming to accumulate 2.3 million steps per house over 5 days to raise awareness for the 2.3 million people who suffer from domestic abuse in England and Wales. Pupils, parents, and staff will log their steps starting on Thursday 18th March to help raise awareness and much needed financial support for those affected by domestic abuse.
