Story

Hi guys!

I have decided I am going to climb the 02 in London, which is 52m above ground level and 380m long.

…. to help raise money for the Hibbs Lupus Trust.

I Was going to do a tandem skydive but I could not get  medical clearance ... 😢

Some of you may know and some may not but I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2008.

I have had many years of ups and downs with trying different medications ... some not working and the Lupus being active. It is a horrible disease you look fine on the outside but it is crippling you on the inside. People never see you at your worst, even on a normal day my body can be in constant pain. It is hard dealing with the symptoms along with side effects of the medications and one problem leading to another.

Every year brings me new challenges but I refuse to let it beat me!!!! ....

I need to do something positive by raising money for the Hibbs Lupus Trust and spreading awareness and maybe some time in the future, maybe not in my lifetime find a cure.

I am very thankful to my boys for being with me every step of the way and dealing with it too. It makes a difference to have the support of loved ones.

I am looking forward to the challenge ….. The boys and Ellie will be supporting me by climbing the 02 with me!

Please help me reach my target. This means a lot to me. XXX

The Hibbs Lupus Trust does a fantastic job providing support to people affected by Lupus.

 What is Lupus?

Systemic lupus is a chronic and presently-incurable autoimmune disorder, a condition in which the body's defence mechanism begins to attack itself through an excess of antibodies in the blood stream causing inflammation and damage in the joints, muscles and internal organs.

Lupus is a disease that turns the body's defences against the body itself. Lupus occurs when antibodies attack the healthy cells in the body.

Symptoms can vary and attack variety of areas in the body:

Joints, Skin, Kidneys, The nervous system, Blood clots, Internal organs

This is a disease that is usually hereditary, but in some cases there is no family history of Lupus.

Thank you for supporting The Hibbs Lupus Trust. We’re a group of volunteers on a mission to raise awareness of lupus. We support people affected by lupus to make sure that no one faces lupus alone. Lupus is a chronic and presently incurable illness of the immune system. Rather than just fighting viruses, bacteria and infection by producing antibodies, your body starts to attack and destroy healthy cells, tissues and organs.
