Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 7th of June, our Irish Sports Horse mare, Dixie, became ill and was taken to Royal Dick Vet in Edinburgh. The following morning we were given a diagnosis of sub acute grass sickness, and told there was nothing we could do for her. It broke our hearts to say goodbye to get, but we didn’t get to grieve properly as two days later, our little cob Bo presented symptoms and was also taken down to Edinburgh. She was quickly diagnosed with chronic grass sickness. Bo fought with all she had for three and a half weeks, but sadly lost her battle on the 6th of July.

Nobody really truly knows what causes Equine Grass Sickness, or how to cure it. There is ongoing research, but the team behind it desperately needs funds to allow it.

Our family have had our lives turned upside down with the arrival of this disease in our little herd. Living through this has been absolute torture, with no end in sight. If we can raise enough to stop just one horse, one family, going through this, we will have done our girls proud.
