Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My life has been touched by Dementia. A very dear aunt developed Alzheimer's Disease during the years before her death in early this year. Other loved ones have also been affected by Dementia. I saw an ad on Facebook about trekking the Great Wall of China. I thought how wonderful it would be do be able to do that, but it was way out of my league, then I thought - why not?
I am of 'a certain age', and have always struggled with my weight and fitness. Various attempts to sort myself out had just petered out, so I realised I needed a significant incentive to keep me on track - what better than to raise money for a great cause whilst participating in a life-enhancing challenge.
I discussed my crazy idea with my friend Julie, whose mother suffered from Dementia, and after much thought we decided to go for it!
Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain and can affect anyone. There are currently over 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, and this figure will rise to 1 million by 2025.
None of us know what the future holds, so please support my friend and l by donating as much as you are able - you never know when you or your loved ones may need the support of the Alzheimer's Society.
