Story

About SWV

SWV is an amazing charity supporting veterans whose lives have been shattered from mental and/or physical injury. The veterans SMV support suffer from a negative transition to civilian life which results in multiple problems including homelessness, addiction, debt, relationship breakdowns – the list goes on!  The majority of veterans SWV supports – of which there are 15,000 - are also PTSD sufferers and their lives have been devastatingly impacted.  SWV help hundreds of veterans each year back into meaningful employment or occupation.

I have been selected to be a Ski Buddy on SWV's annual ski week, coming up in March. This is one of the ways SWV seek to provide a stepping stone for the veterans’ recovery and help them regain independence. I will be assisting on and off the slopes as one of 25 Ski Buddies. This a life-changing week for the veterans, after which each veteran will be allocated a mentor and will be supported on the SWV employment programme.  If appropriate, there are also pain management and mental health programmes available. Testament to SWV’s bespoke and targeted approach at present 90% of veterans who have been through the programmes are currently in meaningful employment.

Thank you for your support!
