You may all remember darling Millie?

This little girl is only 6, and came to us in a bit of a sorry state, her list of woes included patches of fur missing all over her body, severe flea allergy and eczema, due to flea infestation, and extensive mammary issues ☹ Her owner had become seriously ill and was unable to care for her and things had got completely out of hand. Despite this, little Millie remained the happiest, most loving girl 💜

Thanks to the wonderful team at Freshfields, who originally contacted us and put us in touch with the family, we were able to collect Millie really quickly and she spent 2 weeks with one of our fabulous foster homes receiving the TLC and initial vet care she needed.

We had thought that things were on the up for Millie, but sadly, more was to come 😮. Only 3 weeks later, she developed open pyometra – this is a very serious infection of the womb and is caused by the womb filling with pus and, if left untreated, it can lead to kidney failure, toxaemia, dehydration and, in some cases, death ☹ The only solution to this is surgery – especially risky for a dog like Millie that was still so overweight.

We can honestly say that each and every one of us in the LUKAG team were absolutely devastated, and the prospect of losing Millie after she had battled through so much, was just unthinkable. Her lovely new family acted really quickly to get her the veterinary care she urgently needed.

We are so grateful and relieved to say that Millie has had the urgent life-saving surgery she needed – the vet did a wonderful job and yet again, our little trouper Millie, came through!

This dog is such a little fighter – she is the embodiment of why we do what we do, even though sometimes it can feel like a losing battle.

We realise that all our followers are so generous, but if you could spare a small donation towards Millie’s rather huge vet bill which, so far, is just under £2,000.00, we (and Millie) would be so appreciative.

Despite being such a small Labrador Rescue, we make sure that all the dogs that come to us get everything they need, no matter what the cost, and they are all worth EVERY penny! We can’t do what we do without the support of YOU, our wonderful followers 💜🐾
