Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Kate and I decided some time ago that we were going to take part in Maggie's Monster Bike and Hike. Maggie’s is an amazing charity which offers free care and support to cancer sufferers and their families through its growing number of centres. Whilst the charity’s home is in Scotland, where it has 6 centres, it also has existing or planned centres in England, Spain and Hong Kong. The charity is entirely funded by donations.
Our very dear, courageous and determined friend, Tiny, and her family found the Edinburgh centre to be a source of constant help, advice and support. Mindful of the encouragement and strength that the kind, dedicated staff gave Tiny, we decided that we would get on our bikes, lace up our walking boots and raise as much as we could to help Maggie’s continue its invaluable work.
The Monster Bike and Hike takes place on 1st May 2010, starting in Fort William and finishing in Inverness - 73 miles in total. We will bicycle 30 miles and then have the choice of hiking 8 miles for a bronze finish, 22 miles for silver or 43 miles for gold. I suspect that a gold finish might be beyond us, but we are aiming for silver and if we can find the strength and determination to carry on for the extra 21 miles to make it to gold then we certainly will!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe – they won't sell them on or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Maggie's and make sure that Gift Aid is reclaimed.
We know that you receive lots of sponsorship requests. Please give Maggie's what you can.
Thank you so much.
