Story

On Saturday 27th June Laura & Pete will be throwing themselves off the top of Kings College Hospital Golden Jubilee Wing in London all in the name of charity. Okay, okay, we will be completing a 100ft Abseil with ropes and harnesses – but it’s still pretty scary don’t you think?! Worth a pound or fifty???

This moment of lunacy is in aid of MPN Voice (previously MPD Voice), a charity which leads the way in supporting people with a group of rare blood cancers called Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (you can see why it’s abbreviated MPNs). These are rare conditions as they only affect about 1 in 100,000 of the population.

When first diagnosed with a rare and chronic condition like an MPN, the world seems a very frightening and lonely place. This is where MPN voice comes in - they provide relevant and accurate information to promote understanding, as well as invaluable emotional support. They also fund research toward better treatments and one day, hopefully a cure! In a nutshell and most importantly, it provides hope for patients.

Given the rarity of MPN, you will probably not have heard of them unless you're either a haematologist or have or know someone with the condition.  Our aim is therefore to raise awareness of MPNs as well as raise much needed funds for MPN Voice and the brilliant work they do along with the research carried out at Guys and St Thomas's hospital.

So, please dig deep, and give as much as you can towards us completing this challenge.
