My story

I would like to make people aware of ALOPECIA AREATA and how this terrible auto immune disease can devaste a persons life. It causes patchy hairloss and can sometimes progress to complete hairloss. My beautiful daughter Amy who has just turned 11 has been suffering from this awful condition for nine months now. It is progressing quite fiercly and now that Amy has lost about 1/4 of her hair it is becoming difficult to disguise. However, she is trying her best to be brave and strong for which we are very proud.

Amy and I are planning a sponsored event in the new year to raise money for vital research into this cruel condition. If you can, please make a donation no matter how small... it all adds up.

Next time you run your fingers through your hair, please consider all the people who struggle to appear as 'normal' , tackle misconceptions and protect themselves from being bullied or alienated while fighting this condition.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So please dig deep and donate now.

Alopecia UK

Alopecia UK

Charity Registration No. 1111304

Alopecia UK provides information, advice and support to children and adults with alopecia, a hair loss condition that can result in complete loss of head hair, eye-lashes, eyebrows and all other body hair. It is an extremely challenging condition and the dramatic appearance change often results in psychological trauma, and lost confidence. There is reduced control of body temperature, dirt and perspiration get into unprotected eyes, absence of eye lashes allows eye lids to turn in, and unprotected skin burns readily in even moderate sunshine. There is no known cure and no treatment guaranteed to induce hair re-growth and sustain remission. The course of the condition is unpredictable and often recurrent. Alopecia UK is there to help.
