Story

The daughter of friends of mine, was diagnosed with Leukemia in October last year - aged just 14 months.   Margot and her family went through many agonising months as she began her chemotherapy treatment. Margot had a rare combination of ALL and AML leukemia, which meant that her only hope of removing the disease from her body was to undergo a bone marrow transplant.  Neither parent, sibling or close family members were a match and so on Christmas Eve her parents began a worldwide search to find her perfect match.  In February this year, a 9/10 match was identified with the help of Delete Blood Cancer UK. Margot underwent a bone marrow transplant and is making excellent progress.  She is back home and although the family take things one day at a time,  they are hopeful that the amazing work of the medical staff at GOSH will mean that she remains disease free.

The aim of this years Bridge Walk is to raise £50,000 to fund a GOSH research project into Leukeamia. Any additional funds will go to Delete Blood Cancer UK to help fund the costs of registering new potential donor recruits.
