Story
When Dan was discharged from hospital on 1st October 2010 his care continued at home under St Catherines Hospice. The nurses and doctor from St Catherines were amazing and visited Dan everyday at home as he had a syringe driver. We could call St Catherines any time, day or night and there was always someone on the phone to help and provide us with support.
As Dan had spent so much time in hospital over the past few months once he was discharged we really wanted him to come home. Because of the community care that St Catherines provide it made Dans wish possible and allowed us to spend quality time together in the last few weeks, without the worries of where we would get support if we needed it.
On the 17th October Dan was admitted to St Catherines as his medications needed to be changed. Dan passed away peacefully on 18th October.
We really want to thank St Catherines for the excellent support and care that they provided to Dan. Here are some of the ways the charity uses money raised:
£50 - could enable a patient to attend day hospice, with access to bathing, meals, medical consultation, complimentary therapies and social activities and support.
£250 - could pay for the running of one in-patient bed for one day - 24 hour nursing care and full hospice support to patients and their families as needed.
£1000 - could cover the cost of a syringe driver, an easier and more comfortable way to administer medication and keep a patient free from pain.
Thank you to everyone who supports and sponsors us.
