Story

Hello, and thank you for visiting my JustGiving page!

I am going to be running the first Brighton Marathon in April 2010, and am privileged to be raising money for rYico who do some amazing work supporting and educating vulnerable young people in Rwanda.

Many thousands of young people were left without parents and families after the genocide which went on in Rwanda in 2004, and now are in great need of organisations such as rYico to offer them the opportunity to have the start in life which they deserve.

By sponsoring me you will be enabling the youths that rYico supports to have a much higher quality of life and a solid education, which will give them huge benefits lasting throughout their lives.

For myself the Marathon is a massive challenge, but has already been a highly rewarding one.. Doing the training required leading up to the event has already changed my life in many ways.- I've managed to lose my belly for starters (amazing!!) and running 30+ miles a week alongside the cycling and gardening work I've been doing is making me feel fantastic. The 26 miles I'll have to run on the day is still very dawnting, but I will do it!

I'd be hugely greatful for any sponsorship that you could donate to this great cause, no matter how much or little, every penny will help.

JustGiving is a safe way to give money to charities for events such as the marathon, and all funds are paid directly to the charity once I complete the run.

Thank you once again for visiting and in advance for your generosity,

Lawrence :o)

About the charity

rYico is a charity founded in response to the needs of vulnerable young people in Rwanda. rYico has set up Centre Marembo, a training and resource centre that supports the personal development, education and training of young people including those that have been orphaned, neglected or left vulnerable as a result of the 1994 genocide. rYico also aims to increase social and cultural understanding about Rwanda within and between the UK and Rwanda though cultural exchange and education.
