Story
I have now completed my Trek but please, please still sponsor me. You can click on this link to see the Photographic evidence! and see below for the Pre-Trek Story:
For some time I have been flirting with the idea of doing a Trek of some sort and the Alzheimer's Society was something I was very keen to support as my Father suffered up to his death in June 2008. In the latter months of his life it really was quite disturbing to see someone you had known and grown up with barely recognising you.
So it may not be Everest Base Camp, Kilimanjaro or the Inca Trail but still a 'challenge' and very much a worthy cause so I appreciate any donation you may be able to make.
For some further information on Alzheimer's please read on or visit the Alzheimer's Society Website
A very moving portrait of a friends mother and Alzheimer's sufferer can be seen on Flickr in the image titled Alzheimer's a tightening grip

Some Alzheimer's facts:
The University of Oxford was recently asked to
produce a report on the
economic cost of dementia to the UK, and the country's investment in
research to find new treatments, preventions and cures. Summary of the
report can be read here DEMENTIA
2010 .
The Oxford team's findings are astonishing. They show dementia to be the
greatest medical challenge of our time.
•Over 820,000 people in the UK live with Alzheimer's and other
dementia's.
•Dementia costs the UK economy £23 billion per year: more than cancer
and heart disease combined.
•Dementia research is severely underfunded, receiving 12 times less
support than cancer research.
Please note that part of the money raised is funding the cost of the trip.
