On Sunday 11 July Leon and I will be taking part in the London 10k. We have decided to run for the Lymphoma Association and hope to raise lots of money for this very worthy cause.
Lymphoma is currently the 6th most common cancer diagnosed by clinicians in the UK.
It is the most common cancer affecting the 15-30 age group.
In the UK, almost 1,600 cases of Hodgkin lymphoma and 10,500 cases of non-Hodgkin lymphoma are diagnosed each year.
It is estimated that approximately 60,000 people in the UK are currently living with the disease.
The incidence of lymphoma is increasing year on year. However, there is no explanation for this.
In 2007 my mother was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Immeditely she recieved excellent care and treatment and is now in remission. The Lymphoma Association provides information and support to families that know very little about this cancer.
Founded by patients in 1986, the Lymphoma Association is the only specialist UK charity that provides accurate medical information and support to lymphatic cancer patients, their families, friends and carers.
When patients learn they have lymphatic cancer, whether this is Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphoma, they often know little about it. In these circumstances, it is natural to feel fear or anxiety. However, the Lymphoma Association believes that knowledge conquers fear, so continually works to provide accurate medical information and emotional support to anyone affected by lymphoma.
