I am running the EDF Energy half marathon on the 24th of October to raise money for a charity called Climb - Children Living with Inherited Metabolic Diseases www.climb.org.uk and I would be extremely grateful if you would kindly sponsor me for the run.
They support research into Metabolic diseases, which are life threatening genetic disorders in which errors of metabolism occur, involving a block where a catalyst or enzyme is absent or malfunctioning. This defect results in the build up of chemicals on one side of the metabolic blockage and a deficiency of vital chemicals on the other. This causes an overdose of one or more, often toxic, chemicals and the shortage of others, which are essential to normal body functioning. The consequences of such chemicals are often fatal, leading to either a slow deterioration with progressive physical and mental issues, or to rapid decline and death.
I have a special little person in my life who has been diagnosed with one of these diseases, which is called MCADD, and currently there is very little research into the disease. I am hoping to raise some money for Climb, as they are helping with research into this area, and helping support families living with such diseases.
