Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 3rd August, at about 4pm, I'm going to be undertaking a 150ft free fall abseil from Liverpool Cathedral which is the largest Cathedral in UK and 5th largest in the world.
I'm doing this because I want to help raise money for the fantastic Professor Rogers and the Maxillo-Facial unit/wards at Aintree Hospital (Fazakerley).
To cut a very long story short mum developed an extremely rare, agressive and complex illness 2 years ago that resulted in her losing one side of her face and jaw. She spent a large proportion of the first year in hospital on and off on life support. I lost count of the amount of operations months ago and to be honest there have been too many ongoing complications to mention.
Mum is still a patient of Professor Rogers. Quite simply he and his team saved her life. We have gone from literally being told she only had 1% chance of survival to us feeling that we are now finally turning a corner - to more reconstruction and quality of life operations rather than life saving. She really is a miracle.
Although Mum didn’t have cancer, she wouldn't be here today without the specialist surgery, and on-going support from the head and neck team. I just wanted to do something to try and begin to say thank you for their incredible work.
