Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  Emily was born at 28 weeks weighing 2lbs 8ozs at the RVI Newcastle.  They didn't have an intensive care bed for her. It hadn't been possible to move me to a different hospital before she was born.  Therefore, within hours of her being born she was transported by road ambulance (high risk) to North Tees.  Due to complications after the birth, I couldn't follow for another 15 hours.  North Tees looked after Emily through the intensive care stage and Emily's progress was amazing.  Emily returned to the RVI three weeks later and was looked after in Newcastle until she came home for Christmas in December 2010. The RVI looked after Emily so well for many weeks.  We are very lucky to have such a centre of excellence in this area however the number of babies requiring special care is high, higher than I ever imagined, and that means there are a lot of families going through what we did and worse.  Anything that makes such a difficult time easier is worthwhile and this is what Tiny Lives aims to do for the babies and families at the RVI SCBU.
