Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Thank you everyone for your support!
I completed the swim on Saturday in approx 44 mins. I was thrilled with my time, especially as at the beginning of this year , when I first entered the event, I was puffed out after swimming one length of the pool in front crawl. So, to complete the whole mile in crawl and in a resepectable time was a massive achievement for me.
On Saturday 12th September 2009, I will be taking part in the "Great North Swim". The Great North Swim is a one mile open water swim in England’s largest Lake, Windermere.
I initially decided to take part in the swim back in January, in an effort to improve my fitness and have an end goal to work towards. However, I now feel that it would also be a great opportunity to raise some money for a charity. I have chosen to raise money for The Haemophilia Society.
HAEMOPHILIA:
Haemophilia is a blood condition in which an essential clotting factor is either partly or completely missing. This causes a person with haemophilia to bleed for longer than normal.
Bleeding episodes have in the past caused difficulties with education and employment, as well as mobility problems for many who have been crippled by the effects of regular bleeding into joints. The Haemophilia Society is the only national and independent organisation for all people affected by bleeding disorders. The Society is led by affected people and works in close partnership with the NHS. The society provides information and support for all people affected by bleeding disorders and represent their interests.
