We fund vital cancer research to save lives in Yorkshire
Story
For some strange reason and in a moment of madness, I thought it would be a good idea to take part in the Great North Run, the world’s greatest Half Marathon (of course, it’s up north!). Well, on Sunday I was one of those thousands of people that run the 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields. I managed to run most of it, then walked/ran/walked/ran the rest, completing it in 2hrs 38mins 29secs.
I was absolutely exhausted at the end and completely soaked thanks to the huge rainstorm just as I was finishing but I have to say I loved it! Highlights include seeing Ant and Dec (who are still very cute indeed), going over the Tyne Bridge, running along the motorway seeing masses of people in front and masses of people behind, seeing the sea, all the crowds lining the streets, and actually running. It’s true what they say about the atmosphere – it was great. So much so, I’m going to do it again next year.
Now to the important bit. I was running for Yorkshire Cancer Research www.ycr.org.uk , a charity that raises money for cancer research and whilst the work mainly takes place in Yorkshire, the results benefit people worldwide. Research is essential in the fight against this horrible disease which affects so many people. All money raised goes towards the research so please donate. Any amount helps make a difference and is gratefully received.
Yorkshire Cancer Research is an independent charity dedicated to funding world-leading research to pioneer early cancer diagnosis and discover new and better treatments. Each year we fund £10 million of world-leading research to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.
