Story

Hello my name is Harvey Mcclelland. I am 7 years old and I'm from Co.Down.

I was very keen to come into the world and was born 10 week premature.I spent my first 9 weeks in neonatel care.On the morning mummy and daddy was getting me home the doctors did a routine brain scan and mummy and daddy was told I had suffered from a few bleeds to my brain which led to sever brain damage and me being diagnosed with quadraplegia cerebral palsy and epilepsy .This means my four limbs are effected and I find it extremely hard to use them due to high muscle tone as they get very tight.

From birth I attend physio, ocupatiental therapy and speech and lanuage therapy along with numerous hospital appointments and orthapeadic care. This is and will be always part of my life.

I am unable to crawl or walk unaided and this makes everyday tasks that is easy for others extremely hard for me to do.I am wheelchair dependant and need specialist equipment for all my positioning and require 24 hour care. I have had many hip operations and need Botox injections regularly to help reduce tightness in my muscles. I need help to take part in all activities and to play. I have delayed speech but try extremely hard to talk and communicate with others. I work very hard at at home daily doing Physio exercises that help strengthen my muscles and help with my mobility and also co-ordination skills.

Dispite my daily challenges,I am a very happy and bubbly little boy and enjoy doing things just like any other child of my age. I love to join in with other children and I'm always smiling.I am a very determined little man and hope that one day I will be be able to gain the skills to use a power chair and to gain as much independence as I can, instead of relaying on mummy and daddy to push me in my chair.

Mummy and daddy has set up this page to try raise much needed funds for neurological treatments, specialist equipment and for any home adaptations that will help give me independence that is unavailble due to lack in funding through the NHS. By having your support along with family and friends they are trying to give me the best possible chance to make the most of my abilites and to give me as much independence as possible. As alot of you know special needs equipment comes with a very high price tag and treatments cost around £80 per hour.

We would like to thank everyone in advance and for taking the time to read harvey's page and for all your support and kindness so far-no matter what amount is given, every penny is hugely appriecated. We will be keeping everyone informed and updated on harveys progress and any fundraising ideas are welcome ;).Thankyou for taking time to visit my JustGiving page.
