The Brightest Star charity was set up by Arlene after the unthinkable happened and she lost her little boy Jack just before he turned 6. There was no illness or warning. Arlene works tirelessly to provide support to families who have also lost a child:

Bereavement counselling sessions - first aid training -Hulks Haven in Linwood, a dedicated bereavement centre away from the hospitals, busy city centres and mortuaries - The Brightest Star Ambulance allowing parents to be with their children when they are transported long journeys - memory boxes  and providing teddy bears to mortuaries and funeral parlours so parents can have a teddy to leave with their child. Brightest Star take local children to one of Jacks favourite shops, the Bear Factory to make these bears.
