We rebuild lives affected by cancer to help children rediscover their childhood

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am running my first - and what I'm fairly confident will be my ONLY - half marathon on September 26th to raise money for Barretstown, a charity you've probably never heard of...my sister is very involved with them, and in this economic climate smaller charities need even more help than usual.

Barretstown is a specially-designed camp that provides therapeutic recreation programmes for children with serious illnesses - primarily cancer and serious blood diseases- and their families. The programmes take place at a fairytale castle in the beautiful foothills of Ireland's Wicklow Mountains and serves children from Britain, Ireland and throughout Europe.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please help me hit my target - no amount is too small, and knowing that I can't let you down will keep me going on the day! I have never done anything like this before, but making it public means I won't wimp out. Thanks for your help, Liz
