41 cadets and Adults from London Area Sea Cadets have set out to raise money in one of the most challenging ways possible - by taking on The Three Peaks!
Your kind sponsorship, however small, might just be the incentive they need to make all of the aching muscles and sore feet worthwhile!
All money raised will be used to provide similar challenging and stimulating outdoor actvities for young people.
UPDATE
The cadets and staff put a mammoth effort in to get their teams to the summit of the last mountain of the challenge, achieving the top in 2 hours 30 minutes.
There was the compulsory photo shoot at the top to capture the moment with the other people they had made friends with and shared this unique experience.
All teams started their descent in an atmosphere of friendly rivalry, to see who would be the first to finish at the Pen Y Pass car park. This was some what put on the back burner when we came across one of the lakes at the base of Snowdon, where cadets and staff raced to get their socks and boots off to soak those aching feet in the ice cold water.
On reaching the finish all kit was returned and after a de brief, each individual received a hand shake and a t-shirt, which is embroidered with the specially designed event badge on the breast, these helped to make a great end of course photo.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the Mountain Leaders of London Area Sea Cadets Adventure Training (LASCAT) whose specialist skills made this event possible. Also all of the other staff that took part as participants or support drivers.
Most of all to the cadets who this was designed for, whose outstanding behaviour and commitment to completing the challenge was a key factor in making this a smooth success, Thank you.
The LASCAT 3 Peaks Challenge has proved a huge success with requests for another to take place next year. The amount of fund raising that units and individuals have had pledged for their chosen charity appears staggering. These charities include their own units, Help For Heroes and other childrens charities, well done.
