2007 was the 3 Peaks Challenge, 2008 was Kayaing the Thames, 2009 was cycling a stage of the Tour de France. So for 2010..... we rolled them all together to make the London Rail 2010 Outward Bound Challenge.
We've worked with the The Outward Bound Trust to develop a real challenge. The Challenge was for a team of 40 to cover the 70 km and climb 12,000ft between Eskdale and Ullswater in the Lake District by walking 45 km (up Scafell Pike, Esk Pike, Bowfell, Crinkle Crag and Helvellyn), cycled 19km and canoed 7 km - all in under 36 hours.
We did all this is torrential rain and high winds (hence the lack of Striding Edge) to raise much needed funds for The Outward Bound Trust, an educational charity who through their great work inspire and educate as many young people as possible by providing them with access to safe, adventurous experiences through which they can raise their self-esteem, realise their full potential and achieve more than they ever thought possible.
The belief of The Outward Bound Trust
"We are all better than we know. If only we can be brought to realise this, we may never be prepared to settle for anything less."
KURT HAHN, Co-founder of The Outward Bound Trust - The Outward Bound Trust exists to turn these words into reality for an ever-increasing number of young people.
