St. Mary Magdalene's to Sayyedah Zaynab Charity ride for Children in need in Syria.

Both Anwar and Alexis are regular visitors to Syria and after a trip to the country in May 2009, Anwar & Alexis discussed the idea of doing a bike trip from London to Syria to help disadvantaged children. The trip takes place in June 2010, with three of Alexis' friends (Phillip, Peter & Fred) aiming to come on the trip. The group plan to travel across Western, Central and Southern Europe on to Turkey and enter Syria from the north. First major stop would be the mediterranean coastal resort of Latakiya, then Tartous, visit Arwad Island off its coast, Homs, Damascus,the oldest inhabited city in the world and Sayyedah Zaynab. After that, we will ride to Sednaya and Ma'aloula, two ancient christian cities. Palmyra with it's ancient ruins is the next stop on the way. We will then ride to Halabiye and ride along the Euphrates in the North East of Syria, and also visit the Assad lake. The final stop will be Aleppo, where we will explore the citadel and other ancient sites before crossing back into Turkey.

 
The motorcycles will consist of a BMW F 650 GS , a Yamaha XT 660 R and a 500cc Royal Enfield Bullet. Trips to various attractions in and around Syrian cities and the countryside are planned. The trip is scheduled to take place in June 2010, with preparations being made over the next coming months. The whole trip will be filmed and DVDs covering the journey will be available at the conclusion of the trip. Depending on internet connections we will try to make live podcasts from the various locations we will be visiting during the trip.
