Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 2nd July 2010, I found my little baby George not breathing during his morning nap. I managed to resuscitate him whilst calling an ambulance and he was quickly transferred to Poole Hospital where he remained unstable and was fitting. The doctors decided that he needed to be urgently ventilated and transferred him immediately to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Southampton General Hospital. George was then cooled for 48 hours to 34 degrees, whilst in a drug induced coma to limit any damage to his brain. After this period, he was warmed up to normal temperature and over the week, was taken off of the ventilator and numerous tests were carried out to determine the cause. It was diagnosed that George had narrowly escaped cot death.
Throughout the entire time that George was in PICU, Henry and I were able to stay in the family accommodation to enable us to be by his side during the critical days. Both the staff and equipment in PICU were incredible, without which, George may not be here today. Much of the equipment is funded through the charity I am supporting 'Friends of PICU', therefore any donation, however big or small would be gratefully received.
