We safe and decent homes for families to build new lives, hopes and opportunities

Story

A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SPONSORED THE LOVELL TEAM  FROM EVERYONE WHO RAN.

You will be pleased to know the Lovell runners had a great day with all twelve completing the course (see times next to names). The weather and support during the run were great and to cap it all we reached our fundraising target. This means that approximately six homes will be built by Habitat for Humanity due to everyone's efforts.

Roll on next years run.

A typical Habitat for Humanity home in the developing world costs just £1235.

Please take time time to read about HfH below and on their website.

Habitat for Humanity (HFH) is an international housing charity which believes that everyone has a right to a safe, decent place to live.

Over 2 billion people worldwide live in poverty housing. Because of their poor living conditions they struggle with sickness, lack of income, and often cannot afford healthcare or to send their children to school. Poverty housing traps people in poverty and keeps them vulnerable and dependent, unable to fulfil their potential, for generation after generation.

The charity works with communities around the globe to help them tackle their local poverty housing issues. But these communities are not passive recipients of aid: They are active participants in their own solutions. Habitat for Humanity provides training to local people to enable them to manage each project to set standards. Local volunteers, including the homeowners, build or renovate homes under professional supervision. Generally, the homeowners also pay back the costs, which are then used to finance the construction or renovation of further homes.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So please dig deep and donate now.

About the charity

We believe decent homes are the heartbeat of strong communities and so we also fight for land rights for women, upgrade urban slums and informal settlements, improve access to water and sanitation, and help communities become more resilient in the face of natural disasters.
