Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Next week I am travelling to Mombasa, Kenya to volunteer with Educate the Kids. I will be volunteering in the orphanage and helping out in the school - stay tuned for more updates!

Educate the Kids, is a non-profit charity set up by a local family 22 years ago. What began with the sponsorship of one child, has grown into an amazing charity that has provided over 13,000 children with an education, an opportunity that they would never have been given without the help of donations and sponsorship. 

Their motto is ‘a hand up not a hand out’, by providing children with an education; the charity is helping to transform lives and empowering a community. Along with the Jolaurabi school, fundraising has an enabled an orphanage to be built, providing a safe home and a family for lots of children.

With over 50% of girls married by the age of 19 in Kenya, the charity continues to work for educational equality and highlights the importance of women’s rights and period poverty. Their aim is to help young girls take charge of their own lives and shape their futures.

It only takes £11 a month to educate a child at Jolaurabi School – that’s £132 a year to help change a life!
