It has been an ambition of mine to run the London Marathon for a very long time, and this is the year my dream will come true!
I have decided to run for AICR (Association for International Cancer Research) as this is a charity that has meaning for me and for many of my friends and family.
I have lost friends and family to cancer and only last year I lost my father in law. For those who knew my father in law, you will understand the reasoning behind choosing to raise money for finding a cure for cancer, for those who didn't have the pleasure of meeting him, Roy was an incredible man, father and husband whose life was tragically cut short by cancer. I am also running for my friend Alessandra who at the moment is battling against cancer of the liver and bone marrow, unfortunately her chances of recovery are very slight as she has started to deteriorate by the day and is already paralysed. These are very sad stories and there are so many other people around suffering from cancer that raising money for this cause should really become world priority, there’s nothing worse than seeing the person you love slowly dying from this terrible disease.
For those of you who know me well, you'll know that if I manage to run this without breaking any limbs I'll be doing well! The longest I have ever run in my life is 10km and I really dread the day of the London Marathon when I will have to run 42.6 Km! But my sufferance on that day will be nothing compared to the physical and emotional pain millions of people go through when affected by cancer, and that thought alone WILL keep me going!
Sponsoring me via this web site is the most efficient way for me to raise funds for AICR and it would be amazing if you could donate as much as you can in support of this good cause! Also if you are a taxpayer your donation will be increased by almost a third at no cost to you!
Many thanks for your support and remember: “Once you choose hope, anything is possible.” ~ Christopher Reeve.
