Story

On a bunch of intrepid adventurers will do something amazing, they will get up early at the weekend and go for a walk. It won’t be just any old walk, we will be reaching the summit of Foel-fras in at a height of 3090ft.

We are doing this as part of WaterAid’s Munro Challenge, the aim of which is to put a team on the top of each of Scotland's munros and mountains over in England, Wales and Ireland between 12 noon and 2pm on the day

This event has a successful history with the first challenge taking place in 1995. The most recent event in 2007 raised more than £247,000 for WaterAid’s even though the challenge wasn’t quite met, with a number of mountains not being covered.

The photo shows some of our team on the Summit of Creise in 2007 and whilst life as moved on (guess who is pregnant in the picture) we are back undaunted with the aim of raising over £300,000 this time.

Water is essential for life, yet one in eight of the world’s population do not have access to it. Almost 40%, or almost two fifths of people, live without sanitation.

WaterAid is a leading independent organisation which, with its partners, uses practical, sustainable solutions to enable the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation.

We work in , and the Pacific region and campaign globally with our partners to realise our vision of a world where everyone has access to these basic human rights.

We believe that the provision of safe water and sanitation is an essential first step in the climb out of poverty.

Please give what you can as small donations add up to making a big difference. £25 will buy the tools to dig a well and £60 will by a hand pump.
