Story

Thank you for taking the time to read our updated Just Giving page.

On the 18th November 2021 mum (Beryl Stevensonsadly passed away after loosing her fight with Dementia.  Mum departed peacefully at home in the loving care of her family.

Beryl was diagnosed with Dementia six years ago. It was a very difficult time for the family and respecting mum's wishes we fought hard to hide the disease from friends and family.  As time went on it became clear that we needed to start to seek and accept support along the way.  MASE became one of the great strengths to the family.  The charities trustees and volunteers welcomed us into their family and provided a safe, loving, caring environment for us to talk, sing, dance and laugh together.  Mum had lots of fun with her new found friends.

Mum's funeral took place on Monday of this week (6th December) and we received lots of donations for MASE.  Friends who were unable to attend asked how they could contribute so we've re-opened mum's Just Giving page.  With your help we would like to support MASE to continue to provide carers and their loved ones with four support evenings each month across Staffordshire (Hednesford, Cannock, Rugeley and Haughton)

Thank you, god bless xxx

2019

John Reay (my son-in-law) is running the Great North Run Half Marathon this Sunday 8th September 2019 to raise money for ‘The MASE Group’.

My family has been affected by Dementia for over ten years now and as a result of the support we’ve received we would like to show our appreciation by raising money for this amazing charity.  Through this fundraising page we are remembering my wonderful sister Joan who suffered this horrendous disease for ten years and also reflecting on our personal own journey. 😘 xx

The MASE Group (Monthly Alzheimer’s Support Evening) is a local Staffordshire based charitable organisation which provides support, friendship 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 love ❤️ and laughter 😆  for carers and their cared for of those suffering with Dementia.

My daughter Lynne, son-in-law John, grandson Oliver and I regularly attend the MASE groups in Hednesford, Rugeley and Haughton. These groups have become a lifeline for us, enabling three generations to come together with our new found friends and extended family.  We love ❤️ our MASE friends dearly and cannot sing the praises of the wonderful volunteers enough.  It’s here where we discovered that whilst Dementia takes away ones memory... our happy 😃 memories and ones love for music 🎵 🎶 remain rooted longer.  By discovering what makes your loved one happy, will enable you to sustain a fulfilled life for as long as nature allows.  If  you wish to make a donation to The MASE Group please donate here or ask Lynne and John to add you to our sponsorship forms.  .

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts 💕 for your support.  We love ❤️ you all dearly.

It goes without saying that if any of our friends, family and loved ones wish to join us in South Shields on Sunday 8th September it would be fantastic to see you there cheering John on. 😘
