In April 2008 a crack team of fearless highly tuned, coiled-springed athletes, and ME, will risk life and limb to compete in one of the toughest footraces on earth.

Covering over 150 miles in 7 days in conditions ranging from sand dunes and rocky dried riverbeds, to 50-degree heat and sand storms. It takes place in the far south of the Moroccan Sahara and it's going to be hot, dusty, and grim where grown men are reduced to blubbering wrecks - with the added bonus of carrying your own 10kg backpacks. The event is otherwise known as the Marathon Des Sables.

I am attempting to boldly go where only completely crackers professional athletes have just about made it before, with the aim of crawling over the finish line still breathing and with most limbs intact.... if you have a penny, if you have no-one else to help and if you're on email then maybe you can help me and the Mencap Team.
 
Have I lost the plot? Or is there a reason for this stupidity? Well, there is a serious reason to doing this, aside from having a few screws loose. We are raising money for MENCAP. All the money you donate goes to the charity. If that doesn't sway you into giving, then just think about the pain and anguish i will endure over the 7 arduous days, such as doctors slicing and dicing my blisters with razor blades and putting me on daily intravenous drips. If you'd rather see me doing this than you, then cough up the dosh! ;-)

2008 marks the 62nd year anniversary of MENCAP and I am part of a 15 strong team doing the race to commemorate that fact.
