BREAKING NEWS
I completed the run this morning, but struggled a little, clocking 73 minutes, which is even slower than the 69 minutes two years ago. Naguib Kheraj ran a good race and beat me, so I am happy to honour our bet and contribute £5,000 to the charity, He has kindly agreed to add another £1,000.
So, total donations now stand at nearly £17,500; thank you again to all of you have contributed so generously to this total.
This now leaves only another £2,500 to reach my target of £20,000. so please, if you can, donate on-line at http://www.justgiving.com/MSamji or send me a cheque made out to The Aga Khan Foundation at 1 Lynford Close, Arkley, Herts EN5 3HQ.
A couple of months ago, in a moment of weakness, I was again snookered to run the AKF 10k. This year AKF will invest every penny raised to help communities in Pakistan affected by the devastating floods of 2010. AKF has over 40 years’ experience of working in Pakistan and the money raised from the 2011 Walk & Run will help families in Pakistan to rebuild their homes. The run is on Sunday, 10th July in Hyde Park, so I have left it rather late to beg for donations but I have had a terrific start with a fantastic contribution of £5,000 from a friend, Naushad Jivraj. And I have a further £5,000 challenge against another friend, Naguib Kheraj, who is also Chairman of the AKF.
Any amount will be gratefully received and put to amazing use so please dig deep and donate now. You can easily donate on-line at http://www.justgiving.com/MSamji or send me a cheque made out to The Aga Khan Foundation at 1 Lynford Close, Arkley, Herts EN5 3HQ.
Two years ago, I got conned into running 10k for the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF). To my surprise, not only did I go the distance (in a slow 69 minutes) but I also happened to be the highest fundraiser. I was invited to see some of the fantastic work that the AKF is doing in India for water supply and sanitation. We visited five villages and one couldn't help but be touched by the impact that water on tap and toilet facilities had had on the impoverished people. And each recipient of aid had also all made a contribution towards the aid.
