Adam is the son of my friend Nick Bird. In July last year, at the age of 5, Adam was diagnosed with High Risk Neuroblastoma - a very rare and aggressive children's cancer that affects about 100 children in the UK each year.
The treatment of High-Risk Neuroblastoma is harsh and unrelenting but it needs to be to combat this aggressive cancer. It involves a combination of surgery, high-dose chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Even after all this the chance of relapse is high.In Adam’s case the cancer has not responded well enough to treatment but there is hope in the form of new treatments only available in America. His parents desperately need to raise a significant amount of money to allow them to take Adam to the US for treatment that could save his life. I am running the Great Welsh Marathon on 18th April 2010 in aid of Adam's Appeal. Please give whatever you can - every little bit really counts and is very, very much appreciated.* Charities pay a small fee for our service. Find out how much it is and what we do for it.
