Story

Hello!

Welcome, and thank you for looking.

I work for JC Metalworks in Loughborough. At the beginning of the new year, my boss, Jason, suggested that we (the company) participate in an endurance race as part of a team building exercise, as well as to celebrate the 30th anniversary of JC Metalworks and the director, Jack's, 60th birthday. In lieu of paying the participation fee, Jason has encouraged us to raise money for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young people, where life-limited children are offered a comfortable and loving environment, and where they and their families receive much needed support.

The race is called The Suffering and will take place at Rockingham Castle on 25 June 2016 (http://www.thesufferingrace.co.uk/ocr/rockingham-castle/summer/)

If you know me you'll know that over the last few months I have been changing my lifestyle by losing weight and exercising regularly. While I have lost almost 2 stone, I am still on my path of wellbeing. When this opportunity came up, I didn't delay my registration for a moment. Despite this being a celebration, a team building and a fundraiser all in one, I've taken a person approach to this race, too, and am using it as motivation to get in better shape, and succeed at completing (or at least attempting to complete) an obstacle race that is designed to push both mental and physical limits.

Your donations would be immensely appreciated, not only by me, but by the families and children who are cared for by Rainbows Hospice for Children and young people.

I'm scared, but I'm ready! Let's go!
