We use the power of football to change lives across Sussex

Story

On Sunday 12th April 2015 Jadey Yesilada and I are going to take part in the Brighton Marathon together.  It will be Jadey’s first ever marathon and only my second. I have decided to do something a bit different this time and push Jadey round the whole course in a wheelchair.

It will be tough going for both of us mentally and physically but Jadey and I are determined to complete the course because we are raising funds for Albion in the Community (AITC) that will enable more disabled people to play sport either for fun or competitively.

We both know how important sport is in our lives and the difference it can make. I suppose I have always taken playing sport for granted. Jadey on the other hand has cerebral palsy so taking part in sport isn’t so straightforward but to me it seems he’s never let his disability get in the way of achieving anything he puts his mind to. He is a real inspiration and I admire his attitude and determination.

Jadey first became involved with AITC at the age of six after joining one of their Seagulls Specials clubs and he has gone on to represent BHAFC at powerchair football in regional and national leagues. In early 2014 he completed an 18 month Coaching Apprenticeship that saw him achieve 'Apprentice of the Year' across Sussex. Jadey is now an Ambassador for AITC and the figurehead of their Jadey’s Dream appeal.

Jadey’s dream is that he wants more people to have the same opportunities that he has been given by AITC. It seems a small thing to be able to go out and play football with your mates, have a laugh, learn skills, have a bit of independence, grow your confidence, make friends and score goals. These are simple things that many people take for granted but they make a huge difference to the lives of disabled people.

Will you help make difference today and sponsor Jadey and I on our marathon run?  You will be helping Albion in the Community make lots of dreams come true.

Thank you.
