We care for big cats and fund conservation to protect them from worldwide extinction

Story

I gave up drink and lost over two stone to do this ...

(More about that in a minute...)

You may recall in a recent post that my team and I have for the last 18 months been working on some pretty amazing stuff with The Big Cat Sanctuary.

In case you didn’t already know the sanctuary was founded in 2000 to help save some of the most endangered cats in the World from extinction, from the great Amur Tiger to the most endangered Amur Leopard.

The Big Cat Sanctuary is part of coordinated international breeding programs to help maintain a healthy captive population – their ultimate goal is that the cats will be released into their natural habitat to mix with others in the wild one day.

Well, back in December whilst enjoying the finer things in life, like ‘hearty’ foods and the odd tipple on a school night I agreed to a do charity run in aid of them (I was over 16 stone at the time and hadn’t exercised for quite some time).

For the last 9 weeks I have been training relentlessly every day without fail, have stopped drinking completely and managed to lose just over 2 stone.

It’s not been easy at times but The Big Cat Sanctuary is a wonderful cause and has been just the compelling reason I needed for me to keep going when the going got tough.

The charity run is this Sunday (12 March) – a half Marathon around the infamous Silverstone race circuit and I am hoping to raise £900 in aid of them.

Please spare some thought for the fact that without The Big Cat Sanctuary the possibility of these beautiful cats becoming extinct is even more likely.

So, if you can relate to the challenges of giving up alcohol, getting fit, losing weight or most importantly supporting such a wonderful cause then please donate kindly here…

Warmly,
Mark x
