As you may have gathered already I'm running the London Marathon on April 25th - this year!  It's been a event I've wanted to do for some time now and after a couple of drinks at the end of last year it seemed like a great idea to sign up and get training - albeit training through typical English winter weather!  Over the last few months I've had blisters on blisters, inadvertently increased my distance training (on more than one occasion) by getting lost in Cotswold fields and tapping on a few extra miles, and struggled with the motivation to get out of bed on a dull February morning to clock up some mileage with the rain lashing on my window.  But at last the end is in site (and the weather's perking up too!) and it's time for the fund-raising element to begin - not much notice i hear you say (sorry about that), but you can help, every single one of you! 

I'm running the marathon on behalf of the Scientific Exploration Society, a non-profit organisation that initiates a worldwide programme of scientific expeditions focusing on scientific, medical, conservation, education and community aid projects - from assisting water aid to rural communities in Ecuador to the discovery of new species in the rainforest's of Borneo. 

You have this wonderful opportunity to help me raise over £1,000 for the charity, and also give me a boost on race day.  Let's face it 26.2 miles is a long way to be running but I've prepared well, the weather I've been assured will be wonderful and the tens of thousands that line the streets of London will provide the mental support to get through it!  All you have to do is run your hand down the back of the sofa, take a peak in the old jean pocket and pop a donation via the button below - I'm not fussy I'll take Euro's, Thai Baht, Dollars and the like not just Pound Sterling to help me raise some cash.
