Story

Having previously run (and walked a bit) for two very worthwhile causes, this year I am running The Virgin London Marathon on behalf of Headway.

Headway is the national charity that works to improve life after brain injury & a charity that I feel a strong affiliation to. Head injury is the foremost cause of death & disability in young people today with approx 50% of deaths in those under 40 due to head injury.

I am eternally thankful that whilst in my early 20's I was not one of those statistics..... Sixteen years ago whilst playing football I suffered a depressed fracture of the skull.

I was extremely lucky not to have suffered any long term effects (debateable?) other than a big dent in my head that enables me to do spectacular balancing tricks with fruit (see left), so, like a glutton for punishment I have decided to put my body through hell once again & run 26 point something miles all in aid of people that are less fortunate than you & especially I.

I thank you for taking the time to sponsor me & such a fantastic cause

About the charity

EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help
