Story
As you can see, we achieved our fundraising target with a total of over £3700 when gift aid is included. Many thanks to everybody who contributed to this excellent total. This money will be put to great use by Fight For Sight and will undoubtedly help to save the sight of many people in the future.
My other target of completing the London Marathon was also achieved. It took me about an hour and a half longer than planned due to the hot weather, vomiting and dehydration which started taking its toll after about 17 miles. However, I got there in the end and I am delighted to have the medal and photographs to prove it!
I am now planning a couple of 10K races over the summer and the Royal Parks Half Marathon in the autumn. As for the London Marathon, I’m beginning to feel that I have some unfinished business with this distance, so watch this space………….
Since 1965 Fight for Sight has raised funds to support medical research into a wide-range of eye conditions. These include the most common causes of visual impairment in the UK - macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy as well as cataract and the causes of childhood blindness. Fight for Sight receives no government or statutory funding and is therefore dependent on voluntary donations from people like us.
