Hi Everyone,

Everyone told Amanda and I that having a child would change our lives...they were right!

When Amelie decided to come along and take over our lives, were we prepared? Absolutely....not! Is anyone?

The ride has been brilliant to this point and the growing up and learning that "we" are having to do has been incredble.

So thank you little one for making things better!

The difficulty that I have personally found is, fitting it all in! Working, spending time with her, providing, growth for the future - getting the balance right is not an easy task as I'm sure every parent from every generation will testify to. The emotional strains, the relationship demands, the financial implications, in fact the whole package takes its toll. So what to do?

Both Amanda & I come from great supportive families and really do count our blessings to have such great people to use as guides and role models. After a discussion with my brother Steve about the demands, responsibilites and challenges involved with bringing up a little one in todays' world, he put me on to a little book called "The 60 minute father" - by Rob Parsons.

Rob's book really put a lot of things in perspective and changed my outlook quite radically (well worth a read!) I delved deeper and found out that Rob had set up a charity for families called..."Care for the family". The charity does great work within the UK to help families with all sorts of issues.

It is my belief that if we want to create a better environment for our children and our childrens children to enjoy, then the family unit is without doubt a brilliant place to start. 

Amelie and I will be running in the Bognor 10k on the 15th May 2011(well I be running and Amelie will be in the back-pack shouting "come on Daddy faster!") Please donate what you can to assist with the great work that Rob and his team are doing to make things better for families - if a child grows up in a great family environment, then the likelihood is that the child will have a great base of skills to create their own great family environment, and create well-rounded individuals who have the abilities to become the great custodians of the future for the next generation.
