Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and to read about why I am doing a Weight Loss & Health Boost Challenge in aid of Gt Ormond Street Childrens Hospital.

If you know me then you know that I need to lose weight! Simple as that, I know that I need to as well and it`s about time I actually done something about it.

So why not raise some much needed funds for a very deserving cause that is so very close to my family`s heart?

Our son Daniel, who is nearly 6yrs old, was born with a heart problem, to cut a long story short we nearly lost him at 3 weeks old and if it wasn`t for the expertise and care of the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and the consultants from Gt Ormond Street, then we would have lost him...simple as that.

Daniel wasn`t expected to make it through the night and Kelly & myself spent the worst night ever sleeping by his bedside, but he is a fighter and he pulled through and after a very long week living, eating & sleeping by his side he made a fantastic recovery.

He is now under the guidance of Great Ormond Street and has to be seen regularly to monitor his heart and there will be a day when he requires open heart surgery.

I have already helped raise £3,000 with the help of friends and family when 4 of us took the plunge with an 11,000ft skydive on Daniel`s 1st birthday.

I was fitter then and weighed far less!

Since starting my own business and being tied to a computer desk I have been far less active and have struggled to find the time to exercise regularly or eat properly, so I have decided to do something about it!!

One of my clients is the wonderful Helen Smith from Maximum Wellness and she has very kindly offered her services and products to help me reach my goal which is to lose between 5-6 stone...yes you heard me right 5- 6 stone!!

I am ashamed to say that I have reached a ridiculous 19 stone! I haven`t trained in the martial arts that I love so much for nearly 6 months because of my business needs and the weight has just piled on and on.

With Helen`s help, myself and Kelly (my wife) will attempt to lose as much as we can.

With your help we can hopefully raise as much sponsorship as we can for a well deserved childrens charity.

I have decided to go public with this to help raise money for Gt Ormond Street but also I feel that the more people know what I am doing then the more determined I will be to complete this and reach my goals, as I do not want to let anyone down, you as a sponsor, my family, friends and Gt Ormond Street.

I hope you can support me and please dig deep and help a very worthwhile cause. Your support is valued and much appreciated.

I hope to see more of you and hopefully you will see less of me!!

Best Wishes

Martin
