We help people with acquired brain injury to rebuild their lives

Story

Hi All... thanks for visiting our page!!

Some of you will remember James Davies who worked on the CHIPS project in Companies House. James was our team manager and not long after Christmas 2006, James was involved in a hit and run from which he lost his spleen, suffered multiple fractures and a severe brain injury.

James defied all odds and survived. He continues to fight long and hard, spending the most part of 3 1/2 years in hospital undergoing rehabilitation, relearning to think, eat, talk and use his body again. Thanks to James' amazing determination, the loving support of his friends & family, and not to mention the invaluable support and knowledge provided by Headway Cardiff. He has recently been able to move back home part-time, with his devoted girlfriend Rachel, giving them back a slice of normality. We all hope this 'slice' continues to grow...

A little about Headway Cardiff

Headway's aim is to increase awareness and understanding of brain injury and its consequences, along with providing the necessary support to those with brain injury and their families, to help them attain the highest possible quality of life.

They rely solely on sponsorship from events like this and they always need more funds to continue their valuable and life changing work.

Headway continues to enhance the lives of many, including James. When he was in hospital, attending Headway on a Wednesday was the highlight of his week and a welcome reprieve from the hospital ward.

As a team, who miss James dearly and always will, we want to help this charity continue to do their excellent work. And so, Martin and I are going to be turning bright red, running the 5k Reindeer Run as complete novices dressed in antlers, red noses and the like.. or I will even do it dressed in full reindeer get up if anyone has a spare small reindeer outfit I could lend! Also running for the team is Bill Pletcher who will be doing the pro 10k in his red nose & antlers, he likes a challenge!

This event takes place in Margam Park, Port Talbot on the 28th November 2010 for anybody wanting to come and watch or even join in!
