On Wednesday 20^th October 2010, Martin Rouse and Colin Newton will be attempting to overcome their biggest fear by completing a bungee jump of 709 feet from Bloukrans Bridge in South Africa.  Their challenge is to raise money for Barnado’s Believe in Children Appeal.

The trip has been financed by private means which means ALL donations go to Barnado's Believe in Children Appeal.

To give you a little more detail on why we personally want to support this cause; Colin and I are both in the fortunate position of having young, healthy families who are thriving with the support that we can happily give them. I guess we’re the lucky ones though? Having watched a video from Barnados we were extremely moved, in particular by the plight of abused children. We decided that we had to do something to not only raise awareness (and to support Chris Moon a double amputee athelete who is running 1000 miles in September) but also to contribute financially to the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves.

We’re both afraid of heights (I guess you could call us a couple of chickens!!), but saw an opportunity by completing the World’s highest bungee jump to raise a considerable sum of money. Therefore we will be attempting the Worlds highest commercial bungee jump, at Bloukrans bridge, , on Wednesday 20^th October 2010. The jump is 216 metres or 709 feet!!! We are conscious that you all get asked to support fundraising activity from time to time but hope you can find it in your hearts to support us, so we can go on this whistle stop tour with the only worry being how much we could raise.
